چکیده

The first deep field images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) of galaxy cluster SMACS~J0723.3-7327 reveal a wealth new lensed at uncharted infrared wavelengths, with unprecedented depth and resolution. Here we securely identify 14 sets multiply imaged galaxies totalling 42 images, adding to five bright multiply-imaged already known Hubble data. We find examples arcs crossing critical curves, allowing detailed community follow-up, such as JWST spectroscopy for precise redshift determinations, measurements chemical abundances internal gas dynamics very distant, young galaxies. One arc contains pair compact knots that are magnified by factor hundreds, features microlensed transient. also detect an Einstein cross candidate only visible thanks JWST's superb Our parametric lens model is available through following link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gwup2lvks0jsqe5/AAC2RRSKce0aX-lIFCc9vhBXa?dl=0, will be regularly updated using additional spectroscopic redshifts. constrained 16 these galaxies, three which have redshifts, reproduces multiple better than rms $0.5^{\prime \prime}$, accurate magnification estimates high-redshift intracluster light extends beyond members, exhibiting large-scale suggest significant past dynamical disturbance. This work represents taste enhanced power lensing-related science.

Discovery of Multiply Imaged Galaxies behind the Cluster and Lensed Quasar

We have identified three multiply imaged galaxies in Hubble Space Telescope images of the redshift z = 0.68 cluster responsible for the large-separation quadruply lensed quasar, SDSS J1004+4112. Spectroscopic redshifts have been secured for two of these systems using the Keck I 10m telescope. The most distant lensed galaxy, at z = 3.332, forms at least four images, and an Einstein ring encompas...

Measuring Supermassive Black Holes in Distant Galaxies with Central Lensed Images

The supermassive black hole at the center of a distant galaxy can be weighed, in rare but realistic cases, when the galaxy acts as a strong gravitational lens. The central image that should be produced by the lens is either destroyed or accompanied by a second central image, depending upon the mass of the black hole. We demonstrate that when a central image pair is detected, the mass of the bla...

High-redshift Quasars Lensed by Spiral Galaxies

Given its extraordinary spatial resolution and sensitivity, the projected Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST) is likely to detect a large number of high-redshift QSOs lensed by spiral galaxies. Using realistic models for the QSO and spiral populations, we calculate the expected number density of detectable QSOs multiply imaged by spirals, and investigate the influence of various evolution ef...

A systematic search for lensed high-redshift galaxies in HST images of MACS clusters

We present the results of a 135-arcmin2 search for high-redshift galaxies lensed by 29 clusters from the MAssive Cluster and extended MAssive Cluster Surveys. We use relatively shallow images obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope in four passbands, namely, F606W, F814W, F110W, and F140W. We identify 130 F814W dropouts as candidates for galaxies at z 6. In order to fit the available broad-ban...
